Petition to Prove Will Filed August 4th 1884; Stephen L. Mayham,
Surrogate. Citations deliverable Sept. 20th at Cobleskill.
The petition of Alfred W. Rowley(Executor named in will of
Hiram Sexton) of the town of Seward in the countyof Schoharie
Respectfully Showeth:
That lately, on or about the 19th day ofJuly one thousand eight hundred
and eighty-four Hiram Sexton died at the town of Seward in the county of
Schoharie, being at the time of his death an inhabitant of said County;
that the said deceased left a certain instrument in writing purporting to
be his last Will and Testament, bearing date the 25th day of April A. D.
1877, and relates to both real and personal estate: Your Petitioner
verily believes said instrument to be the last Will and Testament ofthe
said Hiram Sextion deceased, and that the said petitionner is one of the
Executors therein named. The said deceased left him surviving the
followingpersons whose names and places of residence are stated, except
where the same have not been ascertained upon diligent inquiry, and being
unknown, are notstated, to wit: Caroline Thompson residing in Seward,
Scho. Co., NY
ChesterSexton, Seward, Schoharie County, NY
Mary Ann Wieting, Cobleskill, Scho. Co.,NY
Welthy Calkins, Cobleskill, Scho. Co., NY
Austin H. Sexton, Seward, Scho.Co., NY
Catharine L. Winsor, Portlandville, Otsego Co., NY
Sophrona Brown, Seward, Scho. Co., NY
Emma A. Rowley, Canajoharie, Montgomery Co., NY
The deceased left no widow and the foregoing are those who comprise
all the heirs atlaw and next of kin to the said testator. Your
Petitioner prays that said instrument may be proved and recorded as a
Will relating to both real and personal estate, and that the usual
Citations issue to the aforesaid persons to show cause, &c., and that a
subpoena issue to Isaac M. Griggs and John Petrie who are subscribing
witnesses to the same, living in the State of New York. Dated this 4th
day of August A.D. 1884

B.WILL OF HIRAM SEXTON:
In the Name of God Amen. I, Hiram Sexton of the Town of
Seward in the County of Schoharie and State of New York of the age of
Seventy Seven years and being of sound mind and memory do make publish
and declare this my last Will and Testament in manner following that is
to say -
FirstI give and bequeath to my son Chester Sexton all of that lot
of land on which he now lives and is bounded on the south by the highway
on the west by therail road north by the land of David L. France and
easterly by the west creekall lying between the Rail Road and west creek
containing twenty acres of land more or less.
Second I give and bequeath to my daughters Sophrona and EmmaSexton,
equally share and share alike the house and lot on which I now live to be
enlarged as follows, viz; takes its beginning twenty five feet from the
east corner of the door yard fence on the north side of the highway
thencenortherly to an apple tree standing at a board fene, said tree now
being grafted thence westerly along said board fence to the west creek
thence southerlyalong the east side of said creek to the bridge thence
easterly along the north side of the highway to the fence of beginning
which is twenty five feet from the east corner of the door yard fence
containing two acres of land moreor less.
Third I give and bequeath to my son Austin H. Sexton all of the farm
on which he now lives and occupies containing about one hundred and forty
acres of land more or less (Excepting always the house and lots given to
my two daughters Sophrona and Emma Sexton before menti
