  • Notes
    • Anna Mary Seelye, daughter of Charles Wesley and Sarah Frances (Parsons)
Seelye was born Nov. 10, 1875 in Centralia IL. I moved with the family to a
homestead in the Dakota territory in 1883 from IL.

On May 10, 1897 I was married toHarry Richards Tarbell, born Sept. 6, 1860 in
Neton Hights. Mass., at the ranch home of my parent. I really didn't like the
farm so we sold it to Boss (George) Westovers parents and moved to Blunt where
Harry and my brother operated a livery stable.

To this union were; Raymond Jackson Tarbell, born at thehome of my mother in
Pierre and, Ruth Frances was born two blocks from theO,Neil home in Pierre SD. In
those days maternal homes were common like the O'Neil's
Oh! Dean (Pat) Seelye was born before we moved out of Blunt.

Harry wasn't satisfied with the livery stable so we moved to Pierre in 1906 on
NorthYankton street where Harry took a job as clerk of courts in the court
house. He bought and sold stocks and bonds as private practice, quite
different from buying, selling and feeding of livestock on the farm, Harry
used to travel a lot while running the farm. Anyway, the more at home type of
business as I wouldsay! Harry was a member of the Pierre Lodge 27 A.F. & A.M.
      & city commissioner.

On Nov. 6, 1918, when Harry's eyes went bad from the court house work hewent
into partnership with Archie Potter in Pierre bottling works across the corner
from the Locke Hotel, Fort Street and Dak. Ave.

In 1936 our son, Raymond, moved us to California near where he lived. Harry
passed away May 17, 1941. Anna passed away Nov. 13, 1944 near where entombment
is at the Cypress View Mausoleum for both at San Deigo, CA.
