      Our PUTNAM family line descends from JOHANNES PUTMAN, born about 1 645 in Leyden, Southern Holland, Netherlands.Johannes was the first in our Pu tman/Putnam family to emigrate to America in 1661. He and his wife Cornelia, d ied on February 8, 1690 in Schenectady, Albany County , New York by Native Amer ican Indians. We are known as the DUTCH PUTMAN FAMILY OF NEW YORK .

      JARVIS PUTNAM - Pen n Yan - Funeral services for Jarvis M. Putnam, 80, who died at his home at 213 Liberty Street, last night, will be Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. at the Weldon Funeral Home, Penn Yan. Rev. Earl Noyes, pastor of the First Methodist Church, will of ficiate. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery.He lived in Amsterdam until 192 0, when he came to Penn Yan to work for MichaelSterns for 35 years. He retire d eight years ago. He was a member of Penn Yan Methodist Church. He was a for mer member of the Red Men, Amsterdam. He issurvived by his wife, Bessie Grisw old Putnam; two sons, Raymond, Penn Yan, andBernard of Rochester; five daughte rs, Mrs. Jarvis Cummings, Penn Yan, Mrs. Franklin Schwab, Penn Yan, Mrs. Ralph Pierce of Himrod, Mrs. Simon Boddery of Rochester and Mrs. Lee Schulz of Roches ter, 14 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was the son of the late Richard and Margaret Orr Putnam. Callinghours at the funeral home will be to morrow from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m".
