Obituary in Portland Oregonian, Friday, March 23, 1951...
DONALD CLARK HERNDON . . . 1900 NE 169th avenue., who died Tuesday was buried at Lincoln Memorial Park following services today at the Gable Funeral home.
Herndon, a mechanic was born September 30, 1908, at Walla Walla, WA, he went to school there. His last position was with Gustin's auto service. He had lived in Portland since 1941 coming here from Milton-Freewater. He was the first Scoutmaster of Boy Scout Troop No 283.
Survivors are 3 sons,Donald Gene, Floyd Ray and Robert Clark Herndon; His father John F., Freewater, and a sister, Marjorie McDougall, Kennewick, WA.

He moved toPortland from Milton-Freewater, Oregon in 1941.
There is a Herndon book andmicrofilm tape available through the Mormon
Family History center about the Herndons. The original ancestors were large plantation owner in the south, Grandma Herndon told me her father in law, John was born in Virginia.
