    • Dear Ken:
Hooray! Eli is our mutual forefather and I have some further infothat you must not have.
Great Aunt Anna Halladay Anderson wrote two pages ofHALLADAY history for me and I'll quote it for you. This was written in the 1950's.

RECORD OF ELI HALLADAY REVOLUTIONARY SOLDIER
His father, Daniel Halladay was the first Halladay in America. He was a Scotch soldier in the English army in the French & Indian war, a struggle between the French and English for the posession of America began in 1754. When his term of enlistment was over hewas returned to the Highlands of Scotland & honorably discharged. He marriedAnn _____ and returned to America about 1760. They
had 3 sons Eli, Able & Daniel. Eli was born May 25, 1763 at Simsbury Connetticut.
He was a Minuet Man 16 or 17 yrs old when he enlisted.
This is his Military service in the Revolutionary Way.
Eli Halladay was a private under Col. Berbe for 2 months in 1779 or1780 in Connetticut.
Private under Lieut. Elijah Owen at States Prison in Conn. for 6 months in 1780 or 1781.
Private under Capt Granger & Colnel Canfieldfor one year in 1782 in Connetticut.
Enlisted at Lewisberg Conn. Pension allowed Oct. 8 1832.
Military Record Bureau of Pensions V.C.M.S.F. 2605 Revolutionary War.
Eli married Catherine Stevens in 1785. He was a member of Vermont Legislature for 9 years & helped form the government of Vermont. He was a Justice of the Peace for many years & perform- the marriage ceremony for some ofhis children.
In 1803 Ohio became a State. In 1816 Eli & Cathrine Halladay brought their family to Ohio, following a "blazed trail", & settled in GreenfieldTownship Huron County Ohio. He helped form the government of the County. My grandfather Horace Kent was 19 when he came to Ohio with his parents. Their 2 other children George & Cathrine died and are buried in Greenfield Township.
In1835 Eli 71 & his wife & son Horace and wife Pheobe Carpenter with Horaces 3 children George, Henry & Elizabeth moved to Erie Co. and settled on a farm 2 1/2miles south of Huron Ohio. Here 3 more children were born to them Mary, Clark& Martha. In 1837 Eli & Cathrine, Horace & Pheobe and others helped to found the Presbyterian Church at Huron. Eli was presiding Elder of the organization and one of its first Deacons. 4 generations of Halladays worshiped & gave service here, & 3 of the 5th generation were baptized by its minister.
Buried in Scotts Cemetary Huron Ohio Eli & wife Cathrine, their son Horace & wife Pheobe.Horaces 2 daughters Elizabeth & Martha & 3 sons George & wife Harriet, their daughter Lizzie &
and son Joseph. Henry & wife Louise, their daughter Pheobe& 2 sons Austin & John & wife Florence. Horaces 3rd son Clark & wife Susan & their son Fred & wife Lina. 4 generations of 3 families of
Halladays. I'll beburied there too & 3 generations of [husband] Corbin's family, Andersons are buried there also. [signed] aged 86 yrs Anna Halladay Anderson
      ======================================================================
Note: I typed this as written, spelling and all. Horace's 3rd son, Clark and Susan (Tyler) Halladay is my line. My father was Russell Halladay Washburn and his mother Charlotte(Halladay) Washburn died in childbirth when he was 3 yrs. old. He was taken to KS and raised by Charlotte and Anna's sister, Edith
Halladay Smith & husband. Aunt Anna was wonderful to keep in touch with, besides we shared birthdays (and also with Daniel-Feb. 26, 1736). She was a DAR member using all the above information.

Do you have further information on the early HALLADAYs: Walter, William, William and Daniel? Where in Scotland did they live? I've been toScotland several times and always wondered just where they were from. Beautiful country.
I'm anxious to hear more from you.
