- William Newell Strong was a policeman.
At the time of the 1850 Federal Census, they were living in Raritan Township, Monmouth Co., New Jersey, p. 227 (Ancestry Image 459) (taken 21 Sep 1850), Dwelling 433, Family 465 -- Wm. N. Strong,30, Sash & Blind? [Maker?], b. NJ; Sarah A. Strong, 25, b. NY; Mary H. Strong,6,b. NY; and William A. Strong, 1, b. NJ.
At the time of the 1870 Federal Census, he was living in the 2nd Ward of Brooklyn, Kings Co., New York, with histhird wife, Eliza, and their family.
According to a Brooklyn directory of 1872,"Strong, William N., police" and his family lived at 154 Bridge Street, Brooklyn.
