Moved with his family to Huron Co, MI, in 1852
Traveled in a small sloop in company with CAPT Samuel Horton to
Charlevoix, then Pine River, in northern MI.
For the next 25 years he worked in northern MI as a bookkeeper and
businessman.
He engaged in the banking business.
Active in politics, he was elected to State senate from the 30th District
in 1880, and from the 29th District in 1882. He was elected Lt Gov of MI
in 1884.

and daughter, Esther.
