  • Notes
    • First found this individual on a ship manifest for the Rotterdam out of Rotterdam, Holland. Arrived May 04, 1902 at NYC age 18 yrs. Last residence Radowa, Bohemia (RADAVA Czech Republic 4932 1410 lat=49.5333 lng=14.1667 40.3 miles SSW of Prague). This is the vicinity of old Vystrkov along the Vlatava River and suggests that this family is related to our Rozhon line. However, due to the large span of years between Ignac and Frantizek, it's possible that Frantizek is really brother to some other Ignac, but the fact that the Ignac I have him linked to lived on Burlington seems to suggest that he is the right one. Curiously, Emil Rozhon (found in OURS.PAF and may be in our direct line) is listed as being from RADOV. Are these perhaps one in the same locations? Ignac and Frantizek would then be "Brother 2 and Brother 3" from Emil's lineage that were known to have come to America.

Destination: His brother, I. Rozhon of 35 Burlington, Chicago, Illinois.

I've connected this Frank with Ignac since it seems too coincidental that a Frank of the appropriate age would be living on Burlington in 1910 (the same street Ignac lived on) that he wouldn't be related.
[Note 23 Mar 2004 - Frantizek's obituary mentions his brother, Ignatz, thus establishing that my guess was accurate.]

      RESIDENCES:
      1910 - 1719 Burlington Ave. (per 1910 Census)
      1920 - 1519 So. Komensky Ave. (per 1920 census)
1930 - 1521 So. Komenski Ave., Chicago, Illinois (per 1930 census)
1948 - 1521 So. Komenski Ave., Chicago, Illinois (per Frank's obituary)

IMMIGRATION: Arrived 1901 per 1920 census, 1903 per 1930 census.

NOTE: In 1920, Frank had a nephew and niece living with him named Charles and Helen Kuchar. Both were married, so it's possible that Helen's married name is Kuchar and her maiden name is Rozhon. That would make her the daughter of Frank's sister or brother, of which we know nothing. She was born in Indiana, so we need to look for a Helen Rozhon born about 1899 in the 1900 or 1910 census for Indiana. So far, I've found nothing. The other possibility is that Helen is the sister of Frank's wife.
