MILDRED MINER - October 17, 1987
Mildred (Pierce) Avery Miner, 78, of 18 Stanton Ave., Norwichformerly of Ledyard, died Saturday at her home. She was the widow of Donald Avery and Leon Miner, and the sister of Clara Kenyon of Westerly.
Born in Ledyard, Sept. 4, 1909, she was the daughter of the lateChester and Mary Stanton Main Pierce.
Mrs. Miner was employed in the housekeeping department of theConvalescent Center of Norwich, and was formerly employed as a bus driverwith the Seaside Regional Center in Waterford and the Town of Ledyard Department of Education. She had also worked as a cook at the Dew DropInn Restaurant in North Stonington.
She was a member of the Ledyard Garange, the New London CountyPomona Grange and the Ledyard Congregational Church.
In addition to her sister in Westerly, survivors include five sons.Warren Avery of Ledyard, Lawrence A. Avery of Norwich, Alvin Avery of Taftville, and Donald Avery and Charles Avery, both of New Hampshire;another niece, May Roberts of Sterling, Conn.; nine grandchilden and twenty great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be conducted in Avery-Stoddard Cemetery,Ledyard, Tuesday at 11 a.m. Visiting hours at the Church & Allen-DinotoFuneral Home, 17 Pearl St., Mystic, Tuesday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.

LEDYARD - Ann Schramm Thompson, 61, of Paint Mill Drive, died Mondayat her home after a long illness.
Born in Stonington, March 17, 1924, she was the daughter of Deweyand Gertrude Pierce Schramm.
She was a member of the Thames River Qstomy Association, and theLedyard Senior Citizens Club.
She was married to Joseph E. Thompson Dec. 8, 1945.
Besides her husband, survivors include two sons, Earl E. of Prestonand David A. Thompson of Old Mystic; four daughters, Anna M. Reiners andBarbara A. Thompson, both of Ledyard, Betty J. Blocker and Mary Mingola,both of Groton; four brothers, Herman of Old Mystic, Dewey of California,Richard of Groton, and Robert Schramm of Norwich; five sisters, MargaretCollins and Ruth Travena, both of Groton, Christine Hinman of Ledyard,Helen Davis of North Stonington and Elsie Christie of Stonington; andfour grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Shea-WilliamsFuneral Home, Mystic. Interment will be in Elm Grove Cemetery there.
Calling hours are 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday.

Helen (Schramm) Davis, 55, of 107 Sleepy Hollow Road, NorthStonington, died Saturday evening, Oct. 22, 1994, at The WesterlyHospital. She was the wife of Frederick Davis.
Born in Mystic, Aug. 25, 1939, a daughter of the late Dewey andGertrude (Pierce) Schramm, she attended local schools.
Besides her husband, Mrs. Davis is survived by four sons, Mark Davisof Washington, Erik Davis of Pawcatuck, William Davis of North Stoningtonand clayton Davis; three daughters Cheryl Wright of Westerly and Kathleenand Barbara Tillinghast, both of Pawcatuck; four brothers, Herman Schrammof Old Mystic, Richard Schramm of Ledyard, Robert Schramm of Groton andDewey Schramm; four sisters, Margaret Collins and Ruth Travina, both ofGroton, Elsie Christie of Old Mystic and Christine Hinman of Ledyard; andfour grandchildren.

MYSTIC - Funeral arrangements have been completed for Mary ArleneAvery Waterhouse, 45, of 5 Elm Place, who died Monday at Lawrence andMemorial Hospital, where she had been admitted Friday.
Born in New London, Jan. 1, 1940, she was the daughter of ElmerRussell and Lucy Alma Pierce Avery.
Survivors include her husband, Frederick R. Waterhouse; five sons,John L., William P., Richard S., David M. and Frederick R. WaterhouseJr., and two daughters, Betty A. Waterhouse and Paula M. Waterhouse, allof Mystic; two brothers, Elmer R. and Paul T.
