  1. Stephen GATES b. Abt. 1746; d. From wounds rec'd in Rev. War; Richmond, Massachusetts.

    Notes:
    Per Bob Gates: He was a soldier in the Revolutionary War, was wounded at
    Groton Fort by a bayonet in his side and a blow to his head. He went to
    Richmond,MA., to the home of his uncle, Deacon James Gates. He received
    treatment forhis wound, and it was healing nicely when he suddenly
    became delirious and died in a few days from the blow to his head. He was
